Annual Meeting & Awards Breakfast

Location:

Homewood Suites, Center Valley

At our Annual Meeting, we recognized individuals who exemplify the principles we instill in our students and promote the value of career and technical education (CTE). The Landis Family, owners of Star Buick GMC, Cadillac, and Star Pre-owned, were honored as our “Leaders by Example.” Carol Landis has generously volunteered her time with organizations like SkillsUSA Council and Communities in Schools, and the family’s generosity has positively impacted many lives. We are fortunate to have the Landis Family as part of the SkillsUSA community.

Terry Mutchler was recognized as our “Volunteer of the Year.” For 30 years, he has volunteered at our Annual District Championships, starting as a judge and later becoming an Event Manager. Terry has been instrumental in shaping the Electrical Construction Wiring contest and has assisted with setup and tear-down at the Ag Hall event site. His dedication extends beyond SkillsUSA, as he also volunteers with the Boy Scouts, local music venues, festivals, and Hawk Mountain.

Bill Young, an eighteen-year Small Engine instructor, was honored with the “Torch Of Knowledge” award. Bill spent his first nine years at LCTI before being challenged in 2014 to start a new Small Engine program at UBCTS. Although initially reluctant to be a SkillsUSA advisor, it quickly became one of the best decisions of his career, helping him grow professionally. Bill takes great joy in witnessing his students’ confidence and growth through SkillsUSA activities, with memorable moments like his “Dress for Success” sessions and his skateboarding during the PDC Fashion Show. Many of his students have returned as alumni, crediting SkillsUSA and Bill for shaping their success.
